SET : THE WHEEL : TIBBAR
2022 SET
Carbonic & direct-pressed Carignan from Testa Vineyards in Calpella, Mendocino.
SET tastes like strawberry twizzlers and pink peppercorn. It’s equal parts fruity-bouncy and dynamic-heady, a combination that’s only possible with old-vines and incredible farming.
Half the fruit went into a steel tank for 10-day carbonic maceration. The other half was foot-treaded then left overnight to macerate before being pressed to a steel tank for fermentation. Both halves were racked to neutral oak barrels for élevage, then blended and bottled after 8 months.
The drive up to Calpella holds a special place in our winemaking journey. We first visited Testa with Tony Coturri in 2021, leaving before sunrise in an old Sonoma Public Works truck - 3 across in the cab. In 2022, we went up at dusk and camped in the vineyard under the full moon. Moments in winemaking that seep that secret special etherial-energy into the wine.

2022 THE WHEEL
Grenache & Mourvèdre from Prie Vineyards, Lodi
This wine spins a tale of biodynamic dedication, terroir-driven finesse, and a taste of Lodi's cooler expression for a warm climate. The Wheel is whole-cluster Grenache and Mourvèdre sourced from the Prie Vineyards in Lodi, where John Gash is at the forefront of biodynamic farming, ensuring the essence of sustainable viticulture in a historical region for California wines.
Juicy & crunchy with a balanced mid-palate revealing enduring red fruit notes entwined with subtle earthy undertones. Remarkably fresh and cool, "The Wheel" defies Lodi's hot arid climate, thanks to the unique terroir of Tokay fine sandy loam soils of the area. Situated at the confluence of the northern and southern coastal ranges, just east of San Francisco, Lodi benefits from cool maritime breezes that traverse the Sacramento River Delta. This distinctive climate imparts a freshness to the wine, setting it apart in a region known for warmth. Simple, honest and a true reflection of a Mediterranean California.
An all-time chillable red with just enough of everything - nice grippy structure, fresh acid & proof that there’s a lot going on down in Lodi. Enough structure for a full on roast, but playful enough to serve whenever you’re craving something juicy

The first time Noelle and I opened the ‘The Wheel’ after bottling we were floored - it was exactly the wine we wanted it to be. A reminder to have patience and trust in your children.

2022 TIBBAR
We were lucky enough to work with Geordie Carr and Miedo Imai's small backyard Sonoma Valley Pinot Noir vineyard — a lovely testament to the commitment of hands-off, regenerative farming yielding some seriously special fruit. ✨Sun-ripened bing cherries and lush raspberries on the nose lead to a crisp hibiscus, berry-packed palate. This wine gives a lotta personality—bright, vivacious, and inviting. Thoughtful farming meets thoughtful winemaking. Pretty simple stuff. 00 as always.
This wine feels like a special reminder of how important local community is to our winemaking process - getting introduced to Geordie & Miedo and having the opportunity to work with fruit down the street from our cellar feels like special dream in California. Pair with a winter sunset on a rooftop with your most reflective homie or with jazz…this wine is jazzy. Also really quite good with Sichuan

The magnum opus of our 2022 vintage. Like Le Pendu, this wine is suspended between sky and earth for me.
